2013 Pantone Color of the Year

This post brought to you by the Great Lakes Mall.  Great Lakes Mall, located in Mentor, Ohio on the corner of Mentor Avenue and Plaza Boulevard, is a wonderful, climate controlled indoor mall.  Anchored by Macy’s, Sears,  jcpenney and Dillard’s, the mall is home to more than 120 specialty shops including H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Hollister Co., Bath & Body Works, Yankee Candle and more.

2013 Color of the YearIf Emerald City is too far to travel after the holidays, then there are easier ways to incorporate the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year into your life.  PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green, has been announced the Color of the Year for 2013. Each year the global authority on color, Pantone, declares the tint that sets the tone on how trends will be formed in fashion, interiors and marketing.

Many post-holiday shoppers are sifting through sale racks for the best clearance deals of the season and others are out searching for the best fitting yoga pants and workout gear a New Year’s resolution can inspire. Take inspiration from the color emerald. Bring balance back into your life after a hectic holiday by incorporating emerald accessories into your wardrobe. A punchy emerald scarf from Sears or an emerald necklace from Kay Jewelers will add a simple sense of sophistication to your ensemble. Make a bolder statement with an emerald peplum dress from Charlotte Russe. Just be careful not to overdo it, or else you’ll look like a St. Patty’s Day parade goer.

jcpenney is launching an emerald inspired home collection in February featuring embellishments like pillows, bedding and bath towels for your home. On a smaller scale, a Fresh Mint Yankee Candle can deck out your digs. You can even add natural components like plants and flowers to your home to capitalize on the emerald trend.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season sends most of us into a party planning frenzy. But be sure you take some time after the holidays to regroup. Recover from standing in long lines. Find peace in being able to score a parking spot that is close to the mall entrance. Take pleasure in knowing that it will be another full year until you have to hear that song about the little girl wanting a hippopotamus for Christmas. And support your community, its retailers and their employees, who have worked long hours throughout the season to make sure your days were merry and bright.
