The Lake County YMCA welcomes children and their families to Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 29 from Noon to 3pm at the Willoughby South High School Stadium. Healthy Kids Day is free!
Special events for the afternoon include a track meet at Noon with skills clinics for running and field events. Boys and girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade can test their skills during running events (50, 100 or 400 meter race), relays, and field events including softball throw (shot put), Frisbee throw (discus), Paper Airplaine throw (javelin), and the long jump.
Other family fun is planned throughout the day including hula hoop contests, GAGA, face painting, fitness challenges, and a bounce house.
“In order to thrive, we need human interaction and balance in our lives. We need to take care of ourselves, eat well, stay safe, be active, and always continue to learn and grow. This isn’t easily accomplished in the technological and polarized world in which we live. Little things like playing outside are becoming increasingly rare. The mission driven Y steps in to fill these gaps in Society, reaching out to our communities, offering something for everyone. The Y focuses on balance with programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all,” said Pattie Ritt, Child Care Director for the Lake County Y West End.
“We encourage everyone to get involved in Healthy Kids Day where they can take advantage of resources and support to be healthy and get connected,” added Pattie.
Healthy Kids Day will be held Rain or Shine on May 1. IF RAIN, festivities will be held at the Lake County West End Y in Willoughby.
