Grand River Valley Ice Wine Festival

This March 4, 11 & 18, celebrate a unique product of the cold temperatures in the Grand River Valley

Ice wine

Enjoy different appetizers and an ice wine glass at five wineries.

The Grand River Valley Ice Wine Festival has become a premiere destination for the rare, succulent, thick, sweet ice wine experience. This year’s festival will occur on March 4, 11 and 18. This is a progressive tasting festival hosted at Debonné Vineyards, Ferrante Winery & Ristorante, Grand River Cellars Winery and Restaurant, Laurello Vineyards and St. Joseph Vineyards.

Ice wine is a dessert wine that is very challenging to produce, as it requires pressing many grapes for little wine and vineyard owners must wait for Mother Nature’s cooperation. When the temperature is just cold enough, frozen grapes may be picked from the vines and pressed to capture only the sweetest, most sugary part of the grape. After all the hard work, ice wine is bottled in a skinny, tall bottle that you can purchase from local wineries.

Each year northeast Ohio wineries open their doors to guests for the Ice Wine Festival to celebrate the harvest. Visitors can sample ice wines, snack on complimentary appetizers and experience unique entertainment opportunities at each winery such as ice carving, jewelry shows and dog sledding demonstrations.

The cost is $6 per person at each winery (includes an ice wine cordial glass, wine samples, appetizer and entertainment). Bring in a new canned food item for local food banks and receive $1 off admission.
