If you are unfamiliar with Lake County’s neighbor winery, Ferrante Winery & Ristorante in Geneva, you should be. Ferrante Winery has just launched a new and improved menu!
The menu was designed to pair perfectly with the award winning Signature Series Wines offered by Ferrante Winery. The menu is something that has been in the works for quite some time. Both Winemaker Nicholas Ferrante, and Executive Chef Nina Kacvinsky worked closely to make sure that every dish pairs perfectly with the accompanied wine.
The dishes are lighter and healthier – what more consumers are looking for these days. The emphasis of course is on how Ferrante’s wines bring out the flavors of each delectable dish. Most guests want to experience, “the taste of GOLD” (Ferrante Winery’s 2008 Gewurztaminer most recently took “Overall Best of Show” at the Ohio Wine Competition.) from our award winning wines, and they also want a meal that compliments the quality of the wine that they are consuming. This general concept was the emphasis on what Nicholas and Chef Nina were trying to accomplish when they designed the new entrees.
For example the Grand River Valley Cabernet Franc pairs perfectly with the Vitello Alla Saltimbocca due to the earthiness found in the wine and in the entree. The rich tannin flavor coats one’s pallet and is balanced by the earthiness found in the Shittake Mushrooms.
The restaurant is open Wednesday and Thursday: Noon-8 p.m., Friday and Saturday: Noon-10 p.m. and Sunday: 1-6 p.m.

Northeast Ohio and many other parts of the country are experiencing a hideous heat wave!!! But you already knew that. Ferrante Winery can see the good side of this uncomfortable weather though. Unlike Northeast Ohioans, the grapes of the Grand River Valley region are soaking up the heat. This weather is the perfect recipe for the making of an award winning wine.
“With the mercury on the rise, the grapes are thriving,” says Winemaker Nicholas Ferrante. Generally, extremely moist and humid conditions aren’t conducive to grape growing, however when rationed properly, by Mother Nature, it creates one of the best environments for growing certain varietals of grapes.
Due to the heat wave Ferrante Winery is about two weeks ahead of schedule and will plan to harvest earlier this year than in years past..
