Things to do: Lake County outdoor concerts

Summertime is made up of so many of my favorite things; topping that list is definitely fresh air and sunshine. I’ve found one way to enjoy these both at the same time and include some fantastic live music. Lake County Ohio has several venues offering summer concert series’ with a wide range of genres to fit many musical tastes. Our summer concert schedule is maxed out…take a peek!

Holden Arboretum Garden Concerts

The gate opens at 6 p.m. and concerts start in the Holden Display Garden at 6:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. This year Holden has partnered with Cleveland Institute of Music to add a new dimension to the concert schedule. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a relaxing evening with good friends and good music. Best of all the concerts are free!

The City of Willoughby Concerts

This year’s concert series will offer an eclectic mix of entertainment – folk, Caribbean, classical, jazz and more. All concerts will begin a 7 p.m. and will take place in the gazebo at Point Park. So, bring lawn chairs and enjoy another summer of music in downtown Willoughby!


July 14 – Alex Bevan, folk and folk-rock
July 21 – Heritage Brass Quintet, Renaissance masterpieces to new works
July 28 – The Chardon Polka Band,  oldies, folk, bluegrass and comedy
August 4 – The Don Disantis Orchestra, big band to Broadway
August 11 – Mary Taylor-Brooks, Rockabilly and blues covers and original works
August 18 – Haywire, Blues, country and rock mixed together
August 25 – Abbey Rodeo, Rock ‘n roll and country music

City of Mentor’s Summer Concert Series

Mentor Civic Center Amphitheater is a great place for listening to music from impressive bands for free each Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Bring a snack and a lawn chair and the family. (If it rains, the concert will be moved indoors to the Civic Ice Arena.)

Painesville Summer Gazebo Concerts

Each Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. this summer, Painesville Veteran’s Park in Downtown Painesville will be full of great music everyone can enjoy. The shows are a great way to get family and friends together, so don’t forget a blanket and a picnic dinner. As always there will be free popcorn and lemonade for everyone.

All shows 6:00-8:00 p.m.
